Interior Design in Porter Ranch: A Jaw-Dropping Yet Functional Entryway at Woodrose
When my client for the Woodrose project told me she wanted a "wow factor" for her entryway—something that would make guests gasp the moment they walked in—I knew we had to go bold. But because I’m me (and I refuse to do pretty without purpose), I also made sure this space worked for their busy family. The result? A show-stopping entry that’s both beautiful and life-changingly functional.

Making a Statement: Bold Wallpaper + Layered Art
The first thing you notice when you step inside? The gorgeous patterned wallpaper. We went big with the scale so it didn’t feel too busy, and then layered a warm-toned art piece over it to create the perfect focal point. It’s bold but balanced—exactly what an entry should be.
Below the art, we added a stylish yet practical bench so the kids (and grown-ups) have a comfy spot to put on their shoes. A few chic pillows made it feel cozy and intentional, rather than just “a place to sit.”
The Hidden Gem: A Custom Mudroom That Changes Everything
Now, let’s talk about the real MVP of this entry—the custom mudroom we designed with a professional closet company. This beauty is built to handle all the chaos of a busy household:
Tons of shoe storage (because let’s be real, one little basket by the door doesn’t cut it)
A designated spot for mail and keys (no more last-minute "Where are my keys?!" panic)
A drop zone for, well, everything—hats, bags, random kid things, you name it
The Surprise Hit: A "Life-Changing" Backpack Station
Across from the mudroom, we created a small but mighty area for the kids' backpacks and a whiteboard. And let me tell you, my client RAVED about this spot last week, calling it "life-changing."
The setup is simple but powerful:
✔️ A place to toss backpacks and shoes the second they get home—goodbye, hallway clutter
✔️ A whiteboard for family reminders, permission slips, vacation dates, and all those "oh crap, I forgot" moments
It’s one of those small details that makes a massive difference in daily life, and I’m so happy they love it.

Final Touches & What’s Next
We’re still waiting on professional photos of the mudroom and backpack station, but trust me—they’re worth the wait. This entryway is everything I love about design: it’s stunning, intentional, and completely transforms how this family moves through their home.
